According to the record of the ”uearlier investigation on animal ecology resources in Hsuehshan and Tapachienshan Area”v and the site investigation on farm animals, it can be classified into the following categories:
I. Mammals: In Wuling Area there are records of 23 kinds of mammals including the Taiwan Mountain Goat, Sambhar, Muntiacus reevesii micrurus, Taiwan Wild Boar, Formosan gem-faced civet, Macaca cyclopis (Swinhoe) and Red-bellied Tree Squirrel etc.  Due to their habitual behavior, in general, these mammals would not be easily seen by visitors in the development area.

II. Birds: 77 kinds of birds have been observed in the Wuling area. The main roosting place is in needle broadleaf forest and broadleaf forest. Most often seen birds include Blue Back Tit, Crown Feather Throstle, Chinese Bulbul, Yellow-throated Minivet, Toucan, Sparrow, White Wagtail, Gray Wagtail, Yellow Wagtai and Zosterops japonica Japanese White-eye etc. In the stream valley, bird species that can be seen is very little.  However, what can be seen is Lead Color Water Fieldfare that is quite many.

III. Bi-habitat amphibians”GAccording to field investigation, in this area there is recordof 5 kinds of bi-habitat species and 13 kinds of amphibians and mostly seen are Bufo bufo gargarizans, Eumeces elegans and Japalura swinhonis etc.

Formosan Landlocked Salmon
VI. Fish: From literature it is known that there are records of four kinds of fish in the seven bay streams and amongst these the most famous one is Formosan Landlocked Salmon that is a landlocked salmon left behind in the glacial period and is a living specimen. All over the world, it only exists in Japan, Korea and northeast area of Mainland.  However, the Formosan Landlocked Salmon is a global salmon and trout species distributed in a more southern region.  Therefore, for having this kind of fish in Taiwan that is in the subtropical zone, it is really special. Not only this is an important subject matter on the study on the evolution of living thing, it is also the evidence in the geology history that Taiwan was connected to Mainland.
V. Butterfly and moth: From field investigation, this area has recorded 20 kinds of butterfly and 4 kinds of moth.  Mostly they are Atrophaneura horishana, Pazala eurous asakurae (Matsumura), Papilio hoppo, Pieris canida canidia, Salatura grenuita Cramer etc.

VI. Other insects: This area has recorded 12 kinds of insects including Kriesche, Cheilotonus macleayi, Anomala expansa, Dusk Cicadas, and Bumble Bee etc.

VII. Explanatory service: In order to strengthen the visitors' service and to enhance service quality, free explanatory service is provided starting from 2002.6.15. Apart from fixed time and fixed spot explanation, advance group booking is also accepted.  Whether it is a holiday or not, the explanatory service will be provided all year round. The explanatory person service is established in the lobby of the guest house.  Everyday there will be two explanatory tours, one at 8:00 in the morning and the other at 2:30 in the afternoon. The tour will start from the guest house and visitors can take a leisure walk on the field along the trail.  Through the vivid and lively introduction by the explanatory person, each tourist can wander about unhurriedly in the bosom of Mother Nature with green mountains and crystal clear water. At the same time, visitors can understand the beauty of the ecology of Mother Nature and your superior quality tour can be enriched.  The whole journey is about two hours.
